Job summary

VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center in Omaha, NE is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician (ER/ICU). You’ll triage and stabilize emergency patients, provide ICU care, and work with a skilled team on advanced diagnostics and treatments.

This full-time role offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 for eligible new hires; compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with opportunities to grow in a teaching-focused hospital.

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE.

Responsibilities

• Triage and assist in stabilizing emergency patients
• Provide advanced nursing care in ICU and critical care settings
• Administer medications, CRIs, and fluid therapy
• Perform diagnostics (lab work, imaging, sample collection)
• Assist with advanced procedures (central lines, transfusions, oxygen therapy)
• Communicate with clients during high-stress situations with empathy and clarity
• Collaborate closely with ER doctors, specialists, and support staff

Job description

Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician

Compensation: Pay range is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities and other relevant credentials. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to eligible new hires. Terms and conditions apply.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity, 3 x 12-hour shifts. Overnight/3rd shift. 7 pm - -7:30 am

At VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center we deliver the most progressive and appropriate treatments available in Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, and Oncology.

The Role

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician (ER/ICU), you’ll play a critical role in patient care across emergency and specialty services. You’ll support a wide range of cases—from triage and stabilization to ongoing ICU care, while working alongside a highly skilled, collaborative emergency and specialty team.
