Job summary

VCA Animal Specialty Group is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian in San Diego to join a world-class team supported by leading medicine, technology and facilities. The role offers a dynamic, collaborative environment and opportunities to grow within a robust teaching facility.

The facility features a 12,000 square foot remodeled space with multiple operating and treatment areas, state-of-the-art imaging, comprehensive ICU and a commitment to ongoing clinical education for students and doctors

Qualifications

• A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
• Licensure in good standing to practice in California, or the ability to obtain.
• A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency veterinary care to critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with internal medicine, surgery and other specialists to determine optimal patient management.
• Educate and mentor veterinary students and colleagues as part of our teaching facility.

• 12,000 square foot remodeled facility offering 3 operating rooms, 10 exam rooms, 4 large treatment areas, a dedicated feline ward, centralized ICU for critically ill hospitalized patients, isolation ward with exterior access and two x-ray suites.
• State of the art equipment including 16-slice CT scanner complete with power-injector, 1.5 T MR, C-arm fluoroscopy, video endoscopy, telemetry EKG, a NOVA point-of-care unit, in-house CBC and serum chemistry, 2 teaching microscopes, viscoelastic coagulation monitoring, 3 ultrasound machines, and high-flow nasal oxygen insufflation.
• Specialties include emergency and critical care, internal medicine, boarded surgeons, oncology, radiology and neurology.
• Opportunity to join a robust teaching facility that offers a challenging rotating internship program, clinical rotations for visiting 3rd and 4th year veterinary students and we host regular didactic rounds, formal journal club and regular CE extents with our base of referral veterinarians in attendance.

• The annual salary range for this position is $80,000 to $180,000.
• Salary is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities and other relevant credentials.
• This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.
