Job summary

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is seeking an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician in Clackamas, Oregon for a full-time overnight/3rd shift (6pm–6am, Thu–Sat). The role focuses on emergency nursing, diagnostics, and critical care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will work with Criticalists, ER Doctors, and fellows to triage and stabilize patients, perform venipuncture, IV access, imaging, lab work, oxygen therapy, and transfusion support, while educating clients and supporting

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or VTNE eligible for Oregon.
  • Strong technical and clinical skills in emergency care.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.
  • Collaborate with Criticalists, ER Doctors and specialists.
  • Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.
  • Utilize venipuncture, IV placement, imaging, lab diagnostics and transfusion support.
  • Monitor hospitalized/ICU patients and communicate changes to the team.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
  • Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative environment focused on patient care.

Job description

Overnight Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists.

Schedule: Full-time opportunity. Overnight/3rd shift schedule opportunity.

  • Shifts: 6pm to 6 am, Thursday - Saturday

Compensation: $31 - 40/hr,

starting range for technicians is determined by licensure, skill set, and years of experience. Financial growth opportunities are available.

This position is offering a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 based on experience and credentials.

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000. Bonus amount is based on experience, qualifications, and eligibility criteria and is not guaranteed.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.

  • Collaborate closely with Criticalists, ER Doctors, Specialists, and fellow technicians.

  • Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.

  • Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.

  • Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.

  • Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
