Job summary

MedVet is seeking a collaborative and driven Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-growing clinical team. The role demands quick shifts in a high-pressure ER setting with a focus on patient care, client communication, and teamwork across departments.

The ideal candidate will hold a State Registered Veterinary Technician license or be pursuing one, with prior veterinary and emergency experience highly preferred.

Qualifications

• State RVT license preferred; prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in drug calculations, CRIs, and unit conversions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and client communication.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside testing.

Proposed Schedule

Thurs-Sat 10a-10p, could rotate at times to Wednesday 12-10, Thursday 12-10, Friday 12-10, Saturday 10-8

What you’ll do

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
