MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-growing clinical team in Austin. The role involves moving between cases in the ER, prioritizing patients, and collaborating with the care team to implement effective treatment plans.

The ideal candidate has prior veterinary and emergency experience, strong calculative skills for dosages, and excellent communication abilities with clients and staff. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, IV fluids, dosages, etc.).
• Able to work in a fast-paced ER environment and manage stress.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Collaborate with patient care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
• Educate clients on home care, medications, and hospital updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation procedures.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Technician Never a dull moment in the ER! Are you someone who likes to be constantly moving from one thing to another? Our Emergency team is the perfect place for technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly and handle the stress of critical situations with ease. Every day is different and there’s never the same case twice!

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
