Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in McMurray, PA is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced ER team. You will participate in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and client communication, while supporting the DVM with procedures and anesthesia.

The role requires prior veterinary experience, a VT license preferred, and strong math and communication skills. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies this full-time position.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and client communication.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and wellness updates.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside labs.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Technician

Schedule: 3 12 hour shifts 7am-7pm, and every other weekend

Our Emergency team is the perfect place for technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly and handle the stress of critical situations with ease. Every day is different and there’s never the same case twice!

What you’ll do:

• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous emergency experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
