Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Peoria, AZ, is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join our fast-paced emergency department. This role triages emergency cases, assists DVM with diagnostics, ICU/inpatient care, discharge, and client communications.

You will perform nursing care, monitor anesthesia equipment, and stay current with CPR guidelines. We offer competitive pay, weekend shift differentials, and opportunities for growth within Mars Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed.
• Perform diagnostics (radiographs, lab work, etc.).
• Set patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; monitor vital signs and general status.
• Assist with anesthesia/monitoring equipment for ASA I or II patients.
• Stay current on CPR guidelines and respond as assigned.
