Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Spring, TX is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support a fast-paced emergency department. You will triage cases, assist the DVM with care plans, perform diagnostics, and help discharge patients while maintaining strong client communication.

You'll handle nursing duties, monitor anesthesia equipment, and stay current with CPR guidelines. The role includes working in ICU/inpatient settings, with a focus on teamwork and continuous learning within a leading pet

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care to patients per hospital standards.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams and vitals.
• Working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment; assist with ASA I/II.
• Stay current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and assigned role.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
