Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department. Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases and assist DVM with crafting and going over estimates; they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc.), set patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharge patients, and handle client communication.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary emergency care.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy.
• Comfort with client communication and education.
• Knowledge of medications and monitoring during care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to emergency patients according to hospital standards.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications and monitor response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens as needed.
• Perform physical exams including vital signs and fluids balance.
