Job summary

Animal Emergency of Gainesville in Gainesville, GA is seeking a veterinary assistant to support veterinarians and licensed technicians during examinations, treatments and emergencies. You will handle patients safely, educate clients, collect samples where directed, and help maintain a clean, well-stocked work area with flexible shifts including overnights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant.
• Previous small animal emergency and critical care experience (3+ years) preferred.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills, with knowledge of veterinary clinical procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
• Safely handle and restrain patients; administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Collect laboratory samples and perform basic diagnostics; maintain medical records.
• Educate clients on pet care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
• Work a flexible schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
