Job summary

PETS Emergency Hospital in Greeley, CO is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support our 24-hour emergency and critical care team. This role offers hands-on patient care in a brand-new AAHA-accredited facility with modern diagnostics and a collaborative team culture.

You’ll assist veterinarians during exams and procedures, monitor anesthesia, support surgery and post-operative care, perform in-house diagnostics, and document medical records.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of emergency veterinary assistant experience.
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical assisting.
• Strong clinical observation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during emergency exams, treatments, and procedures.
• Provide advanced nursing care and emergency first aid to patients.
• Support anesthesia, surgical assisting, and post-operative care as needed.
• Monitor anesthetic and hospitalized patients (ASA I-III; ASA IV-V preferred).
• Obtain and interpret BP, ECG, SpO2, and EtCO2 readings.
• Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics.
• Operate digital radiography and other diagnostic equipment.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Accurately document patient histories and medical records.
• Maintain clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas.
• Collaborate with doctors and staff during high-acuity cases.
