Job summary

Animal Emergency of Gainesville is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency team in Gainesville, GA. You will support veterinarians and licensed technicians with examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures while safely handling and restraining patients.

Training is provided, and a flexible schedule includes overnights, weekends, and holidays. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience, with preference for small animal emergency/critical

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a veterinary assistant required.
• Previous small animal emergency and critical care experience (3+ years) preferred.
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills, with knowledge of veterinary clinical procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency with veterinary equipment, instruments, and industry-standard tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Safely handle and restrain patients; administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Collect laboratory samples, perform basic diagnostics, and maintain medical records.
• Educate clients on pet care, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work environment.
• Work a flexible schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
