Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Willow Grove, PA seeks a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the team from day one, triaging patients, comforting pet parents, and learning the ropes in real time. You will be involved in the full care spectrum—from triage to treatments and monitoring.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg; assist up to 40 kg with help.
• Willingness to work in a noisy environment with odors.
• Available for nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia setup and monitoring.
• Set up IV fluids, blood products, and medication administration.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings and during rounds.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER Certified Rescuer training (provided).
• Grow into advanced roles such as anesthesia support and ultrasound through training pathways.
