Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Mount Pleasant, SC, is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to be at the heart of patient care from day one. You will support the team, comfort pet parents, and learn the ropes of emergency veterinary medicine in a fast-paced environment.

You will work closely with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, receiving training to grow into advanced roles such as anesthesia support and diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience is a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR/practice management knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pets’ families and team.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients; guide care pathways.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Support anesthesia and sedation setups with veterinary team.
• Set up IV fluids, transfusions, and medications.
