Job summary

VEG in Eden Prairie seeks an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced team, supporting veterinarians and nurses while comforting pet parents. You’ll assist with triage, treatments, imaging, and anesthesia setup, from admission to discharge, with pathways to credentialed technician roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Fine motor skills for patients and equipment.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome, triage patients, and guide toward care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and monitor IV fluids, transfusions, and medications.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Join rounds and maintain continuity of care.
