Job summary

Westside Animal Emergency Clinic in Lithia Springs, GA is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians. Responsibilities include patient restraint, surgery prep, injections, radiographs, and clinic duties.

You will work in a fast-paced emergency hospital with a team that delivers urgent, life-saving care after hours. ER experience is preferred, and a compassionate, patient-care mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Proficient in: IV Catheter placement
• Jugular blood draws
• Cephalic, saphenous, femoral (cats) blood draws
• Patient monitoring (ICU/Post-Surgical)
• Taking/positioning for digital x-rays
• Triaging
• Proper restraint of dogs & cats
• Surgical prep
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Administering injections- IV, IM, SQ
• Client communications

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients
• Greet patients and their owners and record vital signs on arrival
• Triage patients and assist with treatments and medications as directed by licensed staff
• Calm and soothe anxious patients
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Promote hospital products and services and support the organization
• Respond to directions from DVM or LVTs
• May have other duties as assigned by Manager
