Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support our fast-paced ER team in Cincinnati. You will help with rounds, client communication, anesthesia procedures and in-house lab work, while coordinating with the DVM and patient care staff.

Ideal candidates bring prior veterinary experience, strong math and dosing skills, and excellent communication. The role offers opportunities for growth and shifts to meet clinical needs in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexible with hours and able to work extra hours when needed.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Assistant

Every day is different and there’s never the same case twice!

What you’ll do:

Who you are:
