MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Cincinnati is hiring an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will help manage urgent cases, support the patient care team, and ensure smooth rounds and accurate documentation.

The role requires prior veterinary experience (emergency preferred), strong calculation skills for medications, and excellent communication with clients and teammates. We offer competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Must have prior veterinary experience; emergency experience preferred.
• Strong math skills for drug dosages, CRIs, and unit conversions.
• Flexible with hours and able to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced ER environment with accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including home care, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Emergency Veterinary Assistant

Whatyou’lldo:
