Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in Austin, TX is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join a mission-driven team that delivers rapid, high‑quality emergency care around the clock. You’ll handle diverse emergencies, including surgery and endoscopy, while engaging with clients to explain diagnoses and care

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (soft tissue) and endoscopy
• Thrive in team-oriented environments
• Able to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg with assistance up to 40 kg
• Comfortable in a noisy environment with strong odors
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on rotating basis

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes approach
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam results
• Perform physical exams and necessary diagnostics (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies)
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans and present them to clients
• Explain diagnoses and treatment options to customers
• Prepare and present estimates to customers
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Explain test/treatment value to clients
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention
