Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian in Austin. You will handle a wide range of emergencies, including surgeries and exotics, in a culture that emphasizes mentorship and continuous learning.

This role offers flexible schedules and opportunities to grow within a high-energy ER team. You'll work with a team of VEGgies committed to exceptional patient care and owner communication, with on-floor leadership and access to VEG Education programs and ER-focused

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Experience in emergency medicine, including surgery and endoscopy.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg; able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients right away as part of VEG triage system.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical exams and required tests (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork).
• Complete diagnoses and create treatment plans.
• Communicate options and prepare estimates for customers.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
