Job summary

VEG ER for Pets in Columbus, OH seeks an experienced Emergency Veterinarian to deliver high-quality care for a wide range of emergencies, including exotic cases. You will work in a mentor‑driven environment with VEG Education programs and CE opportunities, handling emergencies from routine to complex surgeries, and educating clients throughout the care process.

Qualifications

• A DVM or equivalent degree.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments.
• Stand, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg; assist up to 40 kg.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients urgently as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Conduct physical examinations and required diagnostics (ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork).
• Complete a diagnosis and create a diagnostic/therapeutic plan.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options with clients.
• Prepare estimates and present them to clients.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain value of tests and treatments to clients.
