Job summary

VEG is seeking a part-time Emergency Veterinarian in California to join a team focused on mentorship and continuous learning. You’ll handle emergencies, participate in on-the-floor leadership, and utilize VEG Education programs and unlimited ER CE to grow your career.

The role includes working flexible hours across nights and weekends to support hospital needs. You'll treat a variety of pets, including exotics, with support from a team and resources designed to help you advance beyond

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Team-oriented environment and collaboration.
• Ability to stand, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg, with assistance up to 40 kg.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Able to work in a noisy environment with odors.
• Fast-paced setting with diverse people and backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical examinations, imaging, bloodwork, and biopsies.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans and communicate with customers.
• Prepare estimates and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain tests and treatments to customers.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy.
• Educate customers on aftercare and prevention.
