Job summary

VEG ER for Pets seeks an Emergency Veterinarian to join our team in California. You will handle diverse emergencies, including surgeries and endoscopy, while mentoring teammates and delivering exceptional care for pets and their families.

You will work in a high-energy, collaborative hospital environment that emphasizes continuous learning, mentorship, and compassionate client service. Nights, weekends, and holidays are required as part of a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments and hospital culture.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg and work on the floor.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam.
• Perform physical exams, ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.
• Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan and communicate it to clients.
• Prepare and present estimates to customers.
• Maintain and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain testing and treatment rationale to clients.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy.
• Educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures.
