Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to handle a wide range of emergencies, including surgeries and exotic cases, with strong mentorship and ongoing learning opportunities.

You will work in a fast-paced ER environment, contribute to diagnostic and treatment planning, and help educate clients about aftercare. VEG emphasizes growth, staff support, and flexible schedules to fit life outside work.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg, with assistance for heavier loads.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of triage and ER flow.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical exams and diagnostic tests (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Develop and present diagnostic and therapeutic plans to clients.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
