Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) in New York is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian. You will handle emergencies, lead on the hospital floor, and grow your career through VEG Education programs and ongoing mentorship.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Emergency medicine experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg independently.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical exams and required diagnostic tests (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans and communicate options to clients.
• Prepare and present medical estimates to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
