Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group The PC is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian in Santa Cruz, CA. You’ll handle diverse emergencies, from routine cases to complex surgeries, with a culture focused on mentorship and learning through VEG Education programs and unlimited ER CE.

Qualifications

• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg solo and up to 40 kg with assistance.
• Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Conduct physical exams and required tests (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Provide diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Communicate diagnoses and options with customers.
• Prepare and present estimates.
• Review medical records for accuracy.
• Educate customers on tests, treatments, and aftercare.
• Perform emergency surgeries as needed.
