Job summary

PetVet Care Centers in the Santa Cruz area is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join a collaborative team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff. This role focuses on high-quality care, clear client communication, and seamless teamwork to support patients from intake through discharge.

The position requires a DVM/VMD, current state license, and DEA registration, with 1+ years in veterinary emergency settings. Expect a supportive culture and opportunities across our network.

Qualifications

• Veterinarian degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current State Veterinary License is required.
• DEA registration must be obtained and maintained.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary emergency practice.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Excellent surgical and dental skills.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
• Excellent communication with medical and hospital staff and pet owners.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups.
• Communicate with clients and educate them about treatments.
• Perform diagnostic procedures and surgery as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Handle pharmacy duties and controlled substances protocols.
• Promote teamwork and staff efficiency.
• Collaborate with Hospital Manager on weekly priorities.
• Monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge.
• Attend daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards.
• Contribute to practice management updates and training.
