Job summary

VEG for Pets in Palo Alto, CA seeks an Emergency Veterinarian to join our 24/7 ER team. You will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of emergencies, including surgeries and endoscopy, while guiding clients with compassion in a fast-paced hospital.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Able to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg with/without assistance.
• Team-oriented with strong communication and client service skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle emergencies and routine cases with a leadership mindset.
• Answer medical questions over the phone and triage patients.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaints, vitals, and exams.
• Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and interpret results.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans and explain to clients.
• Conduct minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy as needed.
• Educate clients on aftercare and preventive care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and prepare treatment estimates.
