Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join our 24/7 ER team in Lincoln, Nebraska. You will manage a wide range of cases from routine to complex surgeries, lead in patient care, and mentor less experienced staff within a collaborative hospital culture.

You'll work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, supported by mentors and VEG Education programs. We offer comprehensive benefits, a strong team, and growth opportunities across our network.

Qualifications

A DVM or equivalent degree.
Specialization in emergency medicine and surgery advised.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team‑oriented hospital.
Ability to stand, lift up to 25 kg, and handle odors.
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Answer medical questions over the phone.
See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
Record signalment, presenting complaint, vitals and exams.
Perform physical exams, imaging, bloodwork, and biopsies.
Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans and discuss with clients.
Perform minor and major emergency surgeries and endoscopy.
Educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures.
