Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join our nationwide 24/7 ER network. You’ll handle a wide range of emergencies, including exotic cases, while benefiting from mentorship and ongoing VEG Education programs.

You’ll lead on the hospital floor with strong support from a dedicated team and resources to advance your career. Enjoy a culture focused on learning, patient care, and growth, with opportunities to engage in unusual cases and diverse surgical procedures.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Experience in emergency medicine and endoscopy is highly valued.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone and triage cases.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes process.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals and exam findings.
• Perform physical exams, imaging, bloodwork, and biopsies as needed.
• Diagnose and plan treatment, and communicate options to clients.
• Prepare and present estimates to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Explain tests and treatments and address client concerns.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
