Job summary

VEG is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the San Diego area. You’ll work on the front lines of emergency care, handling a wide range of cases from triage to critical care, collaborating with doctors to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care for both patients and their families.

You should have AVMA‑accredited training, a credential (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT) in the state, and 1+ year of emergency veterinary tech experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in veterinary technology preferred
• CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT credential in the practicing state is required; VTS in ECC a plus
• 1+ year experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty preferred
• Strong communication and composure under pressure; ability to multitask in emergencies
• Able to stand for long hours and lift up to 25 kg (40 kg with assistance)
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis
• Noisy environment with strong odors; fast-paced team setting

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and emotional support from triage to discharge
• Assist doctors and team with treatments, diagnostics, and anesthesia
• Perform central line placement, endoscopy, ultrasounds as needed
• Manage patient and client communication to keep care flowing
• Carry out diagnostic imaging, sample collection, and tube placement
