Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in North Dallas, TX is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team. The role includes anesthesia management, emergency triage, radiography, and client communication within a fast-paced hospital.

Sign-on bonus available up to $2,000. Pay depends on licensing, experience, and progression through our competency assessment tool; shift differentials apply for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and operate anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergencies upon arrival and assess vitals to guide urgent care decisions.
• Obtain and interpret vitals and alert Veterinarian to deviations from normal ranges.
• Perform radiographs with correct technique and patient positioning.
• Place and maintain IV catheters and perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Provide compassionate communication with clients and families.
