Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our front-line ER team in Oklahoma City. You will handle a range of cases from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with doctors and staff to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care.

You’ll assist with triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, while supporting pets and their families during stressful moments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree or higher in veterinary technology from AVMA-accredited program preferred
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician in the state of the VEG practice; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia a plus
• 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and electronic medical records
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; patient-centered care
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment
• Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg, and assist up to 40 kg with help
• Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment with diverse teams

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person with care; support pets and families through tests and treatments
• Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge
• Administer meds and monitor patients, including IVs and transfusions
• Collaborate with doctors and staff to shape plans and keep care flowing
• Perform CPR when needed and participate in RECOVER training
• Utilize diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing placement
• Assist with anesthesia for a range of patients
• Apply advanced techniques like central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds
