Job summary

VEG in Costa Mesa is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced ER team. You will engage in triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, delivering compassionate, high‑quality care for pets and their families.

You’ll work with doctors and a supportive VEG team, honing emergency skills while advancing your career in veterinary medicine. This role offers flexible scheduling and opportunities for mentorship.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program preferred.
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state where VEG practice is located.
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of practice management software and electronic medical records.
• Stand for prolonged hours, lift up to 25 kg, and be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person with empathy; support families during emergency care.
• Provide nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Manage medications, monitoring, IVs/CRIs, transfusions, and critical care needs.
• Collaborate with doctors to shape plans and maintain smooth care flow.
• Perform CPR and participate in RECOVER training when needed.
• Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing placement.
• Assist anesthesia and apply advanced techniques like endoscopy and ultrasounds.
