Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. You will work in a fast-paced, learning environment, handling emergency cases and providing comfort to critically ill or injured pets.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will assist with anesthesia, triage, radiography, and monitoring of vital signs, while mentoring teammates and supporting clients through stressful situations.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency or critical care veterinary settings preferred.
• Comfort with anesthesia monitoring and monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure).
• Perform digital radiography with correct technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and interpret results.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns.
