Job summary

Animal Emergency Center of Yorktown is seeking a full-time veterinary assistant for overnight shifts in Yorktown, VA. The successful candidate will support veterinarians with patient care, restraint, triage, sample collection, and imaging, while joining a team that values learning and mentorship.

We offer extensive benefits and training opportunities, with shifts Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings/early mornings. Salary starts at $16/hr+ depending on experience.

Qualifications

• AVeterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience is required.
• Previous ER / Urgent Care experience is preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work overnight shifts.
• Compassionate and calm team-player.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs are a bonus!
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Pet restraint and triage incoming patients.
• Collection and analysis of lab samples.
• Diagnostic imaging and radiographs.
• Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
• Administration of medications.
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
• Surgical preparation and assistance.
• Anesthetic management.
