Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Animal Emergency Clinic of San Diego in Poway, CA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians by cleaning, feeding, restraining and handling patients, and performing clerical tasks. This longtime emergency clinic serves the greater San Diego area, operating nightly to provide critical care for pets.

The role requires empathy, strong communication with clients, and the ability to work on a swing shift.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in Emergency required.
• 3 years of veterinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners, take weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform exams, treatments and administer meds as directed by LVTs.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with meds or patient restraint.
• Perform lab tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain hospital equipment and documentation.
