Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Animal Emergency Clinic of San Diego in Poway, CA is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians. Responsibilities include cleaning, restraining, feeding, grooming patients, preparing surgery suites, and clerical work.

The team provides around-the-clock emergency care in a trusted, pet-centered environment. Qualified applicants are 18+, with a high school diploma or GED, and emergency experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in Emergency settings is required.
• 3 years of veterinary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners and guide them to an examining room, record weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by licensed personnel.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with administration of medications or patient restraint.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Operate and maintain hospital equipment and monitoring devices.
• Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation.
