Job summary

City Paws Emergency Care is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team in-person. You will support ER veterinarians and technicians, assist in exams and procedures, and help ensure fast, high-quality care for pets and their owners.

The role requires experience in a veterinary clinic, strong communication, and the ability to work in a high-stress environment. Flexibility to cover nights, weekends, and holidays is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience in a veterinary clinic.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Compassionate and empathetic with a love for animals.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures and exams.
• Prepare and monitor patients for surgery or emergency treatments.
• Collect and process diagnostic samples (blood, urine, etc.).
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation.
• Provide comfort and care to hospitalized animals.
• Sterilize equipment and maintain a clean work environment.
• Communicate with pet owners about care and status.
• Support front-desk staff as needed.
