Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will record rounds, evaluate patients, and collaborate with the care team to implement treatment plans while educating clients.

Prior ER experience is preferred. Candidates should be flexible with hours and capable of handling stress in critical situations while maintaining excellent communication with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
