Job summary

VEG in Tampa, FL seeks a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced ER team. You will support triage, treatments, diagnostics, and sedation, while learning under credentialed staff. Growth opportunities exist as you pursue further credentials and expand responsibilities.

Responsibilities include assisting with bloodwork, imaging, anesthesia support, and patient rounds. Flexible scheduling and a strong team culture are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, guiding them to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians during anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up and manage IV fluids and medications.
• Assist during outpatient or inpatient care, from exam room to treatment area.
• Participate in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and pursue RECOVER certification with provided training.
• Grow into advanced responsibilities through guided pathways.
