Job summary

Matheny Motors Chesapeake, located in Chesapeake, VA, seeks an experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our Fire and Emergency Team. The role requires detailed electrical work, assembly of under-dash harnesses, and programming vehicle lighting to customer specifications.

You will troubleshoot 12V and 110V/AC systems, read engineering drawings, and perform functional checks on sirens, lights, and door locks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years automotive electrical experience preferred.
• EVT/ASE certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assemble under-dash harnesses, switch panels, circuit boards and electrical components.
• Program lights from customer specs.
• Troubleshoot 12V DC and 110V AC circuitry.
• Test products to ensure performance to specs.
• Read specs to ensure trucks are built per spec.
• Perform functionality checks on airhorns, sirens, light packages, flash patterns, door locks, etc.
• Identify and fix quality issues.
• Read engineering drawings and layouts.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Communicate issues or delays to management.

About this position

Matheny Motor Truck Company is seeking skilled and experienced Emergency Vehicle Technician to join our Fire and Emergency Team. The successful candidate will be very detailed oriented, a true technician skilled electrician and mechanic. This person needs to be versed in fire pumps, valves, preferably foam systems and both 12 VDC and 120/240 VAC generators.
