Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Service Technician (EST) for its Emergency Department. This full-time role involves 12-hour shifts with rotation every other weekend and major holidays, working in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center alongside a multidisciplinary team.

The EST candidate should have a high school diploma and EMT/nurse aide-related training, CPR certification, and preferred phlebotomy and emergency care experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; EMT/nurse aide/patient care technician training or equivalent preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Emergency care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with all emergency services staff.
• Establishes positive relationships with patients, families and visitors.
• Responsible for collection of specimens (Phlebotomy, POC testing) within scope of training.
• Performs point-of-care testing and adheres to quality control procedures.
• Assists with admission, transfer and discharge of patients, including transport within the facility.

Our Emergency Department is a fast-paced, Level I Trauma Center where teamwork, critical thinking, and high-acuity patient care come together to make a meaningful impact every day. Nurses are supported 24/7 by experienced on-shift leadership and work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes emergency service technicians, surgical technologists, unit clerks, pharmacists, social workers, transport staff, and an exceptional group of attending physicians and advanced practice providers.

How You'll Contribute

An Emergency Service Technician (EST) who excels in this role:

• Works closely with all emergency services staff
• Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and visitors
• Responsible for the proper collection of most specimens used in laboratory analysis within the scope of their knowledge and experience (Phlebotomy, POC testing)
• Performs point of care testing, and follows appropriate quality control procedures
• Assists with the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as appropriate, including the transporting of patients throughout the facility

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a possess a high school diploma and completion of an EMT/nurse aide/patient care technician training or equivalent. Additional requirements include:
