Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse in Emergency Services to deliver high‑quality care on a fast‑paced ED team. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across all ages, coordinate with physicians and staff, and participate in ongoing training and quality initiatives.

This full‑time role requires PA RN licensure, BLS and relevant emergency care credentials, and a commitment to patient safety and continuous learning inside a Level 1 trauma center setting

Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania RN license (single-state or compact) required.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire; ACLS/PALS within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary nursing care to patients of all ages in the ED.
  • Function as an independent practitioner within a team setting.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and participate in mandatory education.
  • Communicate with families about patient progress and care plans.
  • Ensure adherence to universal precautions and quality improvement initiatives.

Job Type: Full-time | Variable 12-hour shifts and rotate every other weekend and major holidays.

Up to $20,000 bonus for eligible candidates

The Emergency Department is known for strong interdisciplinary collaboration and offers a fast‑paced environment that supports continual learning and clinical growth. Dedicated supervisory support is available 24/7, and the team consistently exceeds company benchmarks for ED operations and throughput.

How you’ll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN)who excels in this role:

  • Function as an independent practitioner providing care to patients of all ages including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
  • Self-motivational skills, exhibits self-direction. Adheres to department policy in regard to customer satisfaction.
  • Provides primary nursing care to all patients assigned, functioning within a team, throughout the length of stay in the department.
  • Demonstrates accountability and professionalism
  • Notify family/S.O. of patient's progress and include them in plan of care, whether admitted or discharged.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining professional expertise, knowledge of DEM protocols and continuing education, i.e. CPR recertification, CEN, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS and Trauma Nurse credentialing. Maintains stroke education annually.
  • Completes annual ESI triage modules.
  • Maintains technical skills and expertise.
  • Participates in bedside change of shift report.
  • Assume responsibility for annual completion of required education, as well as any assigned mandatory educational requirements throughout the year.
  • Completes departmental competencies.
  • Attend programs related to trauma nursing as specified by Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation standards.
  • Maintain assessment, knowledge and intuition skills when treating all patients.
  • Maintain departmental awareness, assessment and communication skills when performing Navigator role to ensure the safety and care of patients throughout the department and waiting areas.
  • Practice Universal precautions.
  • Promote continuous quality improvement.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include:

  • Active Pennsylvania RN license (single-state or compact) required. If relocating, the license must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS within one year
  • PALS within 3 years
  • Actively pursuing CEN within 3 years
  • 6-month acute care nursing experience and/or equivalent emergency medicine experience (CST, LPN, or Paramedic)
  • Trauma Nurse Course preferred
