Job summary

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Technician to join the 42-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Johnstown, PA. This full-time position offers variable 12-hour shifts, two weekends per month, with holiday rotation and eligible for up to a $5,000 bonus.

You will support nurses and the interdisciplinary team, record vital signs and intake/output, transport patients, and assist with telemetry and post‑operative care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Nurse Aide program preferred.
• Completion of Nurse Aide Program or related experience may be accepted.
• Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Participates in patient care with attention to safety and patient comfort.
• Record daily intake/output and vital signs in the EMR.
• Orient patient and family to room and call bell.
• Obtain initial vitals and assist with post-admission assessments.
• Transport patients safely and assist with activities restrictions.
• Collaborate with the care team to address patient/family concerns.

Join our 42-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU), where you will work alongside a skilled and compassionate team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Nurse Technician, you will play an important role in supporting nurses and the interdisciplinary care team while gaining valuable hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced clinical environment. The PCU cares for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of complex medical and surgical conditions, including cardiac patients requiring specialized monitoring and treatment. Team members have the opportunity to learn about advanced patient care, telemetry monitoring, post‑surgical recovery, and the management of patients with specialized therapies and invasive lines. Working collaboratively with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals, Nurse Technicians assist with patient care activities, support patient safety initiatives, and contribute to the implementation of individualized care plans. This role provides excellent exposure to progressive and acute care nursing practices while building a strong clinical foundation for future career growth. How You'll Contribute

• Participates in Patient Care Team's delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient's spiritual and cultural differences.
• Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in delivery of patient care.
• Orients patient and family to room and call bell.
• Upon admission, obtain initial vital signs, height and weight.
• Records daily I & O, vital signs, and food intake into the electronic medical record.
• Transports patients via appropriate means in a safe, dignified manner. Adheres to patient activity restrictions.
• Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and reports patient/family concerns accurately and concisely to appropriate care team members.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should possess High School Diploma or GED. Additional requirements include:

• Completion of Nurse Aide Program or experience in related field or will provide on the job education and training
• Basic Life Support or acquire within 3 months of hire
• One year of acute care or one-year long-term care experience preferred
• Certification preferred
