Job summary

UNC Health's UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill is seeking an Emergency Room Technician II for a 36-hour, full-time schedule. The ED is a Level I Trauma Center serving adults and children, with two units and close coordination with a psych ED. You will support patient care, safety, and rapid response in a busy ER environment.

Orientation and paid time off are provided. The role requires HS diploma or GED and BLS; licensure as Nursing Assistant I or EMT is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher-level degree may satisfy this requirement.
• Three to six months relevant experience and/or training preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (or willing to obtain).
• Licensed as Nursing Assistant I by NC DHHS or EMT.

Responsibilities

• Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration every 2 hours or as directed.
• Records intake and outputs as directed.
• Performs urinary catheterization or in-and-out Foley procedures and documents.
• Sets up area for sterile procedures and documents.
• Performs minor orthopedic splinting under physician assistant direction.
• Documents any skin breakdowns and notifies RN.
• Removes IV catheter and documents accordingly.
• Transcribes, documents, and transmits physician orders and other pertinent information.
• Able to work in triage, minor treatment and acute areas per departmental policy.
