Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in our emergency/acute care department. The RN will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, provide physical and psychological support to patients and families, supervise assigned staff, and mentor students.

Qualifications

• Requires nursing degree from an accredited school and active RN licensure
• Experience in emergency or acute care settings preferred
• Ability to perform EKG procedures and interpretation
• Familiar with SBAR handoff and bedside shift reporting
• Completion of hospital-approved training and demonstrated competence in emergency care procedures
• Orientation to unit policies, safety, infection control and performance improvement

Responsibilities

• Complete patient assessments and formulate a plan of care
• Oversee implementation and evaluate plans with critical thinking
• Administer medications and IV therapy as prescribed
• Supervise and mentor staff and students
• Engage in discharge planning and transition of care
• Maintain accurate documentation in the medical record
• Provide patient advocacy and coordinated care
• Participate in performance improvement teams
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
