Job Summary
As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
Essential Responsibilities

- Nursing Process:
- Develops and contributes to individualized care plans based on assessments.
- Ensures multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education are reflected in care plans.
- Discusses plans with patients and families in a timely manner.
- Monitors patient progress and revises plans accordingly.
- Ensures care meets standards and includes effective discharge planning and patient education.
- Ensures patient safety, pain control, and understanding of medications and procedures.
- Patient Care Experience:
- Practices customer service standards.
- Responds promptly to patient requests and alarms.
- Facilitates resource utilization and maintains confidentiality.
- Ensures a clean and respectful environment.

Basic Qualifications
- Minimum six months recent experience in ED or Critical Care, or successful completion of a KP ED training program within the last 12 months.
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Life Support
Notes
- For 12-hour shifts, hours are 7:00 pm - 7:00 am; backup 8-hour shift is 7:00 pm - 3:30 am.
- Alternating weekends required.
