Job Summary:

As the leader of the health care team, provides professional nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with established standards of care, policies, and procedures. Demonstrates performance consistent with the Medical Center Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan of the organization. Remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats co-workers, patients, families, and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Nursing Process:
  • Develops or contributes to individualized care plans based on assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Ensures multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education are included.
  • Reflects patient admission data, ongoing findings, age, cultural needs, and acuity.
  • Discusses plans with patients and families, completing them timely.
  • Monitors patient progress and revises plans as needed.
  • Ensures care meets standards of practice and includes effective discharge planning and patient education.
  • Ensures patient understanding of discharge instructions and medication information.
  • Patient Care Experience:
  • Practices customer service standards defined by the organization.
  • Responds promptly to call lights, alarms, and patient requests.
  • Facilitates resource utilization through appropriate referrals.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and a clean, safe environment.
  • Treats patients and families with courtesy, respect, and compassion.
  • Listens actively to patient needs, ensuring understanding and exceeding expectations.
