Job summary

Prime Healthcare is hiring an Emergency Room CNA at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. The Evening shift runs from 10:45am to 11:15pm, and the position is full-time.

The ER CNA supports nurses and doctors, monitors patient vital signs, assists with procedures, and ensures supplies are stocked in a fast-paced ED. Responsibilities include helping patients with basic needs, transporting patients, recording observations, and maintaining infection control.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
• Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with basic needs (bathing, dressing, toileting), reposition and transfer patients as needed.
• Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration), assist with wound care and dressing changes under supervision.
• Prepare rooms and ensure medical supplies are stocked, transport patients within the hospital (to imaging or other departments).
• Assist with procedures (e.g., setting up equipment, applying splints), perform CPR and basic life support if certified.
• Record patient information and observations, report changes in patient condition to nurses or doctors and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Clean and sanitize patient areas and equipment, follow hospital protocols to prevent infection spread.

We are seeking an Emergency Room CNA, also referred to as a Emergency Department CNA or (ED CNA) or an Emergency Services CNA (ES CNA). An Emergency Room CNA (ER CNA) assists nurses and doctors in the emergency room / emergency department by providing patient care, monitoring vital signs, helping with procedures, and ensuring medical supplies are stocked. They also transport patients, document observations, maintain infection control, and offer emotional support in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
